8/19- "First Impressions"- In 4 sentences, what are your first impressions of your book? 8/20- "Cover Art"- What is your impression of the cover art? Did it attract you to the book? If you could change the design what would you change? (Think font, font size, font placement, colors, graphics, cartoon vs. real photos). 8/21- "Genre" What is the genre of your book and define 2 aspects of what this genre is. 8/26- “Summary”--Summarize what you have read so for in 5 sentences min. 8/27- "Opinion"-- Write 3 opinion statements about any elements of your book. 8/28- "Setting"-List all the elements of your book’s setting. 8/29- "Protagonist" -Who is the protagonist of your story, describe their personality in 3 character traits and explain how they show that trait. 9/3- “Conflict”--What conflict(s) are they facing, what is the conflict type? How does the conflict bring action to the story? 9/4- "Antagonist”Who/what is the antagonist of the story? What is their goal in the book? How would the story be different without the antagonist? 9/9- "Contrast"- Contrast yourself to one of the main characters. What is a trait that the character has that you don’t? Would your life be better or worse if you had this trait, explain. 9/10- “Prediction”- Make 3 predictions for the story. 9/11- “Advice”- If you could give 3 pieces of advice to the characters in your story, what would you suggest? 9/12- “Moral”- What lesson do you believe the author is wanting the reader to learn from the story? 9/16-“Sequel”- If you could create another big conflict that would lead to a sequel story, what would you design? What would the sequel be titled? 9/23- "Trait"- If you could give a NEW character trait to the main character, what trait would you give and what purpose would it serve? 9/26- "Connection" -Make a connection to the text. There are four types of connections:
Text to self (relate the story to your life or compare common personality traits with you and a character)
Text to text (relate the story to a different story you have read)
Text to world (relate the story to something in the world around you/news/society/government)
Text to Media (relate the story to something you have seen on tv, in a movie, or on the Internet)

How would your story be changed in a different point of view? 10/28- Choice- If you could make one CHOICE for your protagonist, what would you decide for them and why? 10/29-Crazy- If you could make your protagonist do something crazy (wild or insane), what would you have them do and what effect do you think it would have on the story? 10/30-Horror- If you could add an element of horror (fear, dread, terror) into your book, what would you add and explain HOW this would change the story. 11/6-Plot Twist- If I could add a plot twist, I would create...which would alter the story by… 11/7-Confusion- Something I don’t understand about my story is… 11/8-Realism- Do you feel the character’s are realistic? Explain 11/12-Day Off- If you could give a character in your book a day off from their normal routine, what would you have them do? How would this affect the story? (*Make sure it is relatable to the story) 11/18-Animal- If you could choose an animal to represent your protagonist AND antagonist, what would you choose? Give 2 reasons. 11/19-Story Crasher- If a character from another book crashes your book who would it be, what book do they come from, why did you pick them, and what would they do in your story? 12/2- "Movie"- Would your book make a good movie, why or why not? If it is a movie already, was it a good choice to bring it to film why or why not? What would be some benefits of having your book put into a movie? Who, what, when, where, why, and how. 1/14: "New Year’s Resolution"- If your protagonist could make a New Year's Resolution, what would they resolve (try) to do and why? 1/15: "New Year’s Party"- If your protagonist was throwing a New Year’s Party name 2 people who would be on their guest list and why. Who would be one person definitely not invited and why? 1/21: "Segregation"_ If your protagonist had to be kept away or apart from something or someone as a punishment, what would it be and how would they react? 1/22: "Civil Rights Connection"- Name a trait that a character in your book has with Rosa Parks, Oliver Brown, or MLK Jr. What is the trait and how do they both exhibit it? 2/4- "Fact and Opinion"- Write 3 fact sentences and 3 opinion sentences about what is happening in your book. 3/2- "Character Trait" -Label your main character with 2 personality traits and then explain how they show that trait in the book. 3/5->>Journal Entry: What do you hope people remember about you?
